Lotterywest delivers a funding boost for regional ambulance

Country St John Ambulance sub centres are the main beneficiaries of a generous $517,448 million grant from Lotterywest.

Announcing the grant at the 2015 St John Ambulance State Conference (held on 14-15 August) Glenys Godfrey Belmont MLA, said the grant acknowledged the vital role St John played in the WA community.

“St John’s network of volunteer ambulance services in country regions provides emergency ambulance and patient transport to a great many Western Australians and the State Government is pleased to assist with this annual grant,” she said.

St John Ambulance WA Chief Executive Officer Tony Ahern said Lotterywest had been enormously important and generous to St John over the years.

“We are extremely pleased to once again receive support from Lotterywest - just since 1993/94 St John Ambulance in WA has received more than $19m in Lotterywest funding.”

“These grants allow our centres to upgrade or replace old equipment to be able to continue to provide a high level of service in their community.”

The $517,448 will be put towards the purchase of new ambulances for four sub centres: Wyndham, Morawa, Pemberton and Kojonup.

In addition, Chapman Valley will receive $16,000 for capital works and Kalbarri will get $13,500 for equipment and supplies for their ambulances.
