Drug and alcohol testing service launched

St John Ambulance Western Australia has expanded its Industrial Health Services with the introduction of drug and alcohol testing.

St John Industrial Health Service General Manager Mary Haughton said drug and alcohol testing will complement St John’s on-site industrial paramedic and medic services which are provided to mining, petroleum and construction sites across the state.Drug and alcohol testing

“St John has responded to our clients’ need for drug and alcohol testing in remote parts of the state,” she said.

“As an ambulance service and first aid training provider, we have significant infrastructure and resources across Western Australia and are well placed to deliver drug and alcohol testing to industry.”

The first round of drug and alcohol testing is being undertaken on a weekly basis at the St John Newman Sub Centre.

“Both instant and laboratory testing are available onsite, or at select ambulance and training centres,” Ms Haughton said.

“We expect the greatest demand to come from traditional clients in the mining, oil and gas, and construction sectors, but St John is positioned to expand its drug and alcohol testing in growth sectors including recruitment, transport and sport.”

St John’s drug and alcohol testing complies with the relevant legislation; ASNZ 4308:2008.
